"Hope that Help A Little"

Tips of the day

Do you know that, not washing diapers daily is a mistake. Diapers that sit in the diaper pail for more than a day start to smell, take longer to come clean, and stains set. Ammonia builds up so the laundered diapers will have a weird smell when baby wets, and your baby may get diaper rash. So...if your baby suddenly developing diaper rash after some times using cloth diaper and you are very sure that, it is not because of material or detergent allergy. Try changing your laundry routine by washing the diaper daily, you may be suprised that the situation will improve tremendously.

How to Stripwashing Cloth Diapers

We did stripwashing once in 3-4months .

Over time you may notice that your cloth diapers no longer smell April fresh, even right after laundering. This usually means that they have build-up and need a good stripping. Build-up occurs when residue left by detergents, oils or other substances remain in the fibers. Diapers with either super-absorbant hemp or man-made materials like microfleece tend to gather stink more easily than diapers with all-natural fibers like cotton or bamboo. If the funky smell wasn't bad enough, build up can also decrease the absorbency of your diapers and cause leaking. But don't worry, removing build-up by stripping your cloth diapers is really easy - we'll show you how!

Frustrating with leaky diapers? Battling with stinky diapers? Suffering with diaper rash?
Confusing with cloth diaper strip washing?

Try the strip washing methods below and have great results with very little effort!

1.Stripping with Rocki
n' Green

Rockin' Green "Rock a Soak" is an effective way to get rid of built up minerals and detergent, which is known to cause diaper rash, smell and repelling issues. To remove built up minerals and detergent residues from your diapers, you can "Rock a Soak" and have great results with very little effort!

Follow simple steps below for stripping (the steps are included on every pack of Rockin' Green):

In a top-loader:

-------------------
1. Dissolve 3 Tbsp of Rockin' Green soap in a washer full of your hottest water (not > 60degC).
2. Add all the 'clean' diapers and inserts (i.e. ones that have already been washed free of urine & poo). Ideally not more than 15 sets of diapers per load.
3. Allow to soak for 30-60 minutes at a minimum. If buildup is bad, leave diapers (non PUL/TPU items) soaking for several hours or even overnight.
4. Once the soak is finished, launder your diapers as usual, but do not add any extra detergent.
5. Add a few extra rinses to get rid of any extra suds and gunk.

** If your washer does not have hot wash option, you can use the method for “front-loader”.

In a front-loader:
---------------------
1. Dissolve 3 Tbsp of Rockin' Green soap in a basin/bathtub/pail full of your hottest water (not > 60degC). It is quite tricky to get a good soak in front loader. So we recommend using the bathtub/pail.

2.Stripwash with Dish Soap or Distilled WhiteVinegar and Bicarbonate Soda
  How to perform strip washing?
1. Build up residues left by detergents, fabric softeners, diaper rash cream and other substances used to clean diapers. It may cause your diaper to leak. Stripping refers to the removal of residue on diapers.
2. To do stripping, simply hand wash your diaper with your regular dish soap (like Sunlight brand ) and this gets the oils out. Just add a bit of dish soap to the fleece or suede (the inner part of cloth diaper).
3. You can rub that part a bit and turn inside out and repeat on this side. Rinse few times ensuring the water runs clear.
4. Toss in the washing machine and wash it without detergent.

WARNING: SUNLIGHT LIQUID DISH SOAP CANNOT BE USED WITH FRONT LOADER MACHINE

5. There is another way to do strip washing. I prefer doing this another method of stripping. All I do is mix together few drops of Distilled White Vinegar and 1 tablespoon of Natrium Bicarbonate inside a full load laundry. And the second cycle, a few drops of Dettol to cast away horrid smell. The third cycle is simply water for thorough cleaning with no hint of urines, feces, ammonia or other unpleasant odours.

3.Stripping with hot water(for insert only)

If your diapers are dirty as well as stinky you should wash them before stripping, otherwise stains may be set in. Freshly washed diapers don't need to be dried before stripping, you can strip right after washing. Before stripping be sure to check the washing instructions for your diapers so you don't accidentally damage them.

Wash

Stripping Cloth Diapers - Wash Place your stinky diapers in the washing machine and run them through a hot wash with NO detergent. Top loading machines are slightly easier to use when stripping because you can lift the lid to check for bubbles. They may also be more effecient at stripping due to the large amount of water they use. However, front loading washers can also be used successfully, it may take more cycles plus a bit of creativity and a flashlight to see bubbles.

The water should be as hot as possible so you may want to turn your water heater up beforehand, or boil water on the stove to add to the washer. If you change your water heater temperature be sure to turn it back down afterwards!

Rinse

Stripping Cloth Diapers - Rinse Rinse, rinse, rinse your cloth diaper's insert in the hottest water your machine will allow. Peek into the washer during the rinse to see if there are soap bubbles on top of the water. Continue running rinse cycles until there are no more soap bubbles. It could take four or more rinses to get rid of all the bubbles. Don't confuse soap bubbles with agitation bubbles - agitation bubbles will disappate quickly if you stop the washer while soap bubbles will hang around a bit.

If your machine allows for hot washes with hot or warm rinses you could substitute hot/hot or hot/warm wash cycles for the numerous rinse cycles. My machine only has hot/cold, warm/warm, warm/cold and cold/cold choices so I generally run a hot/cold cycle then a warm/warm cycle in place of two separate rinse cycles.
